Businesses that offer a proprietary digital technical service/product/platform/hardware as their main source of income are referred to as "digital technology sector" or "product-led digital technology companies". A key component of their business models is frequently the development of software, data processing and storage, or the production and use of technical computing gear.[General consulting firms, outsourcing companies, and technology-related consulting firms with an emphasis on process/service delivery, solutions/systems architecture, are excluded from this.
